El diseñador canadiense Brent Comber crea muebles en madera de forma inusual.

El resultado de este proceso mantiene la forma del árbol intacto al mismo tiempo crear una forma contemporánea. El “roto” colección tiene un proceso similar pero en vez de ramas, se usa cortar secciones de los troncos.

Esto crea un efecto que se parece a pedazos de cristal o de hielo, de ahí el nombre. El uso más innovador  de madera se pueden encontrar en su serie de pantallas para lámparas hechas de troncos de cedro.

Las sombras han perforado pequeña perforación en la cara que deja pasar la luz.

Comber realiza trabajos todos hechos con madera cosechada de forma sostenible, a menudo utilizando desechos de aserraderos.

Canadian designer brent comber creates furniture using wood in unusual ways. His ‘alder’ series features branches which have been clumped together and cut into geometric forms. the result of this process keeps the form of the tree intact while create a contemporary form. The ‘shattered’ collection has a similar process
but instead of branches, it uses cut sections from logs. This creates an effect that resembles shattered glass or ice, hence the name. Comber’s most innovative use of wood can be found in his series of lampshades made from cedar trunks. the shades have small perforation drilled in the side to let light through. Comber’s work is all made with sustainably harvested wood, often using scraps from wood mills.

El diseño de muebles en base a patrones sucesivos no es algo que se vea con frecuencia, sin embargo aquí tenemos un ejemplo. No puedo evitar recordar ciertos proyectos arquitectónicos cuando miro esta mesa y sobre todo la silla, elementos cambiantes, morfologías dinámicas. Bueno, y quizás la referencia mas clara se vé en la mesa cuando surge repentinamente la forma ondulante de la Rotating Tower en dubai. En fin, la ida y vuelta del diseño de mobiliario a la arquitectura y demás no es una novedad, es solo que no nos conviene dejar pasar las referencias claras (por no decir influencias) cuando se va de un bando hacia otro porque ahí es cuando comienzan las faltas de objetividad en el análisis. Además de eso, linda la mesa ¿no?

Furniture design based on successive patterns is not something you see often, but here is an example. reminds me some architectural designs when I look at this table and especially the chair,
changing elements, dynamic morphologies.

Well, perhaps the clearest reference is seen in the table when suddenly the undulating form emerges from the Rotating Tower in Dubai.

Finally, the return of furniture design to architecture and others is not new, it’s just that we should not miss the clear references (if not influence) when going from one place to another because that’s when Starting the lack of objectivity in the analysis. By the way, nice table right?

San Francisco designers Mike and Maaike have created a shelf with slots specifically cut to house seven seminal books about power and society.

Called Juxtaposed: Power, the piece is the second in a series of bookshelves for Californian gallery Blankblank, the first of which held works on religion.

What should we value most–freedom or security, merit or equality? And who should decide–the few or the many, individuals or groups, humanity or God? For the first time, the world’s most seminal texts on power and its relationship to the ordering of society are brought together and presented on the same level.
