Your boat cushions are continuously exposed to the salt water, rain, and sun almost on a daily basis. Therefore, in order to keep them looking spry and in good shape, be sure to check the state of the inner cushion every once in a while.
Check for Damages
Gather all of your boat or yacht cushions and open them up to expose the inner filling. Once you’ve taken them out, look for any major tears or holes within the cushion. Also, place enough pressure on the cushion and time how long it takes for it to revert back to its original shape or form. If it takes an unnecessarily long time for it to plump back up, then it’s probably best that you change them out.
Choosing a Replacement
Your replacement boat foam should preferably have an open-cell structure. This allows moisture and water to travel through the cushion instead of it being retained. This is important for the high amount of water exposure that your cushions have to go through. It not only prevents them from becoming water-logged and unusable but because the specialty foam is designed for marine environments, they’ll last longer than your ordinary foam.

If you’re in need of new boat cushions, it’s wise to switch over to a foam product that’s designed for high moisture exposure. You’ll essentially get more out of your investment and won’t have to replace them as often as you would with a closed cell product.
