El principio de inspiración para el proyecto es la reunión de la colectividad y el individuo, una característica inherente al tipo de edificio de dormitorios.

La forma circular simple del dormitorio Tietgen es una respuesta al contexto urbano, ofreciendo una declaración de arquitectura audaz en la nueva zona prevista. El edificio de forma cicular – símbolo de la igualdad y de la comunidad – se contrasta mediante la proyección de los volúmenes de las residencias individuales.

Los niveles superiores se organizan con 360 unidades de residencia a lo largo del perímetro y las funciones comunales están orientadas hacia el patio interior. Instalaciones comunes a todo el dormitorio se agrupan a nivel del suelo.

Los apartamentos están a diferentes profundidades en un ritmo alternado, que expresa la identidad única de la persona por su forma y le da la forma exterior del edificio es característico, cristalino de expresión y neutraliza la forma posiblemente monumental del espacio cilíndrico.

Los grupos de espacios comunes se forman en consecuencia. Se destacan de forma tan dramática que sobresalen las masas de construcción que se enfrenta en el medio del patio – el punto central.

La fachada del dormitorio con paneles de aleación de cobre se complementan con una mampara de vidrio y sistema de deslizamiento de la pantalla de perfil de roble americano aceitado. El interior del edificio se caracteriza por una estructura de hormigón visto y madera contrachapada y tabiques revestidos.

Ciudad Momentanea por Vector Architects

El estudio Vector arquitectos han concluido un pabellón de ventas de una obra en construcción en Hefei, China, que cuenta con una serie de patios cerrados.

Llamado Ciudad momentánea, el proyecto no pretende eliminar el ruido y el polvo de la zona de desarrollo, sino establecer los elementos más agradables de los alrededores, como el viento, el agua y las plantas.

El edificio consta de un cubo como las estructuras vestidos de acero , unidas por patios y dispersas a lo largo de un borde de la obra .
Los extremos de estos patios están cercadas por las pantallas de doble capa de fibra de vidrio, que filtran la luz para que aparezcan neutral y transparente desde calle, pero de color desde el interior.

Concepto de diseño: Ciudad momentánea
Al igual que muchas otras ciudades en China, Hefei está experimentando una rápida transformación.
La estructura urbana original fue desgarrado y descartado, sustituido por gigantescos bloques de estructuras anónimas y las formas.

El Hefei presente es sólo un momento fugaz en su marcha inexorable hacia el futuro. Por lo tanto, lo llamamos un “momentáneo de la ciudad”.

Los barrios que fueron demolidos y los nuevos sitios que están en construcción llenan este “momento de la ciudad”.
Tratamos de diseñar un lugar que crea la paz y la tranquilidad de las almas de las personas.
Se filtra el ruido y el polvo del mundo exterior, pero mantiene la luz y su sombra, el agua y sus ondas, y el viento suena, las plantas y sus aromas, una serie de fenómenos momentáneos para crear una memoria que dure.
Una secuencia de patios, se insertan entre el espacio interior y el medio ambiente de la ciudad al aire libre, convertido en una conexión visual entre el edificio y la ciudad.
Los extremos de estos patios están cercadas por las pantallas de la industria de fibra de vidrio que se cuelgan en dos capas.

Por el lado de los patios, los colores de la pantalla cambiará para reflejar los distintos temas de los patios. Por el lado de la ciudad, las pantallas siguen siendo claras y transparentes.
Esta variación en el color crea un efecto sutil cuando se ven desde el lado de la ciudad.
Cuando se ven desde diferentes puntos de vista y las distancias, la apariencia de las pantallas también están cambiando.
Por la noche, cuando los patios y los árboles están iluminados, el brillo pantallas de silencio para emitir un color tenue en las aceras.

El diseño de los patios es la base de una lógica interna que informa a la transición de los espacios.
La luz del sol llega a los espacios interiores, directa o indirectamente  en la pared norte del país.
La luz hizo de los espacios y el tiempo, cosas inseparables.

Con la luz cambia durante el día y las estaciones, los espacios toman diferentes expresiones.”

Chinese studio Vector Architects have completed a sales pavilion for a construction site in Hefei, China, which features a series of enclosed courtyards.

Called Momentary City, the project aims to screen out the noise and dust of the development area but draw in more pleasant elements of the surroundings such as wind, water and plants.

The building consists of cube-like structures clad in Corten steel, linked by courtyards and scattered along one edge of the construction site.

The ends of these courtyards are enclosed by double-layered fibreglass screens, which filter light so that they appear neutral and translucent from the street but coloured from within.

Design Concept: Momentary City
Like many other cities in China, Hefei is undergoing a rapid transformation.
The original urban fabric was torn apart and discarded, replaced by giant blocks of anonymous structures and forms.

The present Hefei is just a fleeting moment on its relentless march toward the future. So, we call it a “Momentary City”.

The neighborhoods that were demolished and the new sites that are under construction fill this “Momentary City” with scabs.
We try to design such a place that creates peace and tranquility for people’s souls.
It filters out the noise and dust from the outside world, but retains light and its shadow, water and its ripples, wind and it’s sounds, plants and their aroma, a series of momentary phenomena to create a memory that lasts.
A sequence of courtyards, each hosts one of these phenomena are inserted between the indoor space and outdoor city environment, become a visual connection between the building and the city.
The ends of these courtyards are enclosed by industrial fibre glass screens which are hung in two layers.

On the courtyards’ side, the colors of the screens change to reflect the various themes of the courtyards. On the city side, the screens remain clear and translucent.
This variation in color creates a subtle effect when they are viewed from city side.
When they are seen from different points of view and distances, the screens’ appearance are also shifting.
At night, when the courtyards and the trees are lit, the screens glow quietly to cast a faint color on the sidewalks.

The layout of the courtyards is the foundation of an internal logic that informs the transition of the spaces.
Sunlight reaches the interiors spaces directly or indirectly through the clerestories on the northern wall.
The light made the spaces and time inseparable. With the light changing through the day and the seasons, the spaces take on different expressions.
Maybe such ever-changing and irreplaceable moments are the precise definition of eternity?

“Diseño propuesto para un sitio indefinido, que está configurado para distintos entornos y variadas exigencias. Por razones prácticas, se basa en el uso de un único componente diseñado para el crecimiento infinito en un patrón geométrico.

La idea detrás de configuración modular es definir una solución espacial que sería capaz de crecer y de adaptar de acuerdo a la necesidad de cambiar, o de acuerdo a distintas condiciones en diferentes lugares. En teoría,  más y más módulos se añadirían, las instalaciones de la clínica puede crecer infinitamente, pero siempre limitado a la matriz circular, definida por tres patios de diferente tamaño.
Propuesta para la fase de una clínica satélite implica diez módulos agrupados en torno a dos patios circulares, mientras que dos fase de configuración necesitará veinte módulos agrupados en torno a cinco patios circulares.

Número y disposición de los patios se asocia con la lógica de organización de la clínica y la influencia formativa en la relación entre el espacio exterior e interior. La primera fase contempla la propuesta de un patio mas grande (hospitalaria) las instalaciones y la prevención de la enfermedad (pacientes ambulatorios) instalaciones, y otro patio más pequeño a ser rodeado por la zona de la familia al aire libre. Nos gustaría estimular la utilización máxima de las áreas al aire libre con y sin sombra, como una extensión natural de la cubierta instalaciones. En nuestro diseño, nos gustaría promover formas de interacción social mediante la planificación para la integración de entre los espacios para la educación, la recreación y la vida.

Todas las instalaciones están frente al patio para permitir problemas de orientación para los pacientes. Con el único punto de entrada a la clínica y que pertenecen claramente definidos espacio al aire libre, las instalaciones de la clínica debería contribuir a crear mayor sensación de seguridad para sus usuarios.

Toda la estructura, pueden colocarse en un contenedor único de 4mx3mx2.4m o el volumen de 28.8m ³. Dicho paquete de láminas de acero corrugado y viga en la estructura puede ser fácilmente transportado por tierra o por aire a los lugares más recónditos. Respecto de la construcción el proceso de retransmisión de la habilidad muy básica y la introducción gradual de otros componentes, tales como pisos, de aislamiento, ventanas y puertas, acabados, mobiliario…

Nuestra respuesta al escrito del diseño fue para llegar a una propuesta eficiente. Como en el tratamiento de la enfermedad en el éxito es directamente dependiente de la respuesta rápida, pensamos que de la arquitectura que sería rápido y directa por la construcción de habilidades disponibles localmente y material fácilmente transportable. Así que basamos nuestro propuesta sobre el elemento modular, hecho de cáscara de acero corrugado y estructura de viga. Su poligonal huella de 27m ² tiene todos los nodos situados en los perímetros de los dos círculos concéntricos. Establecidas y la secuencia de la construcción es fácil a través de siete pasos que se muestran en los diagramas.

Diseñado en relación al Sol y un plan de buena circulación de aire para ayudar contra el sobrecalentamiento y el mejor uso posible de luz natural. Chapas de acero perforadas se utilizan para proporcionar la protección móvil del sol para puertas y ventanas, y otros muros de concreto que están allí para definir las áreas al aire libre. Superficie del techo se los paneles fotovoltaicos de acogida para generar electricidad a partir de la radiación solar.

Alta proporción de superficie a volumen de nuestra propuesta se orienta para un mejor aprovechamiento del agua de lluvia. El agua se recoge por toda la superficie del techo y luego canalizado a través de canales a los tanques de almacenamiento ubicados en los patios. El agua de lluvia recogida de los techos se puede calcular utilizando la fórmula: 1 milímetro de lluvia sobre una superficie de 1 metro cuadrado los rendimientos de 1 litro de agua. Por lo tanto, nuestra propuesta para la primera fase generará 270 litros de agua por 1 milímetro de lluvia. Ese suministro puede ser usada para beber si está adecuadamente tratada o agua para uso doméstico, o agua para la pequeña irrigación.

Responsive solutions in building industry are normally associated with high budgets. In contrast, this is a  low-cost application of adaptable architecture. Proposed design is not site specific; it is configured to suite  different surroundings and varied demands. For practical reasons, it is based on the use of a single  component designed for infinite growth within a recursive geometric pattern.

The idea behind modular configuration is to define a spatial solution which would be able to grow and  adapt according to the changing need; or according to varied conditions at different locations. Notionally, if  more and more modules were to be added, the clinic facilities could grow infinitely but always confined the  circular matrix, defined by three differently sized courtyards.

Proposal for the phase one satellite clinic entails ten modules grouped around two circular courtyards,  while phase two configuration will need twenty modules grouped around five circular courtyards.

Number and disposition of courtyards is associated with the organizational logic of the clinic and has  formative influence on the relationship between outdoor and indoor space. Phase one proposal envisages  one larger courtyard surrounded by childbirth (inpatient) facilities and disease prevention (outpatient)  facilities; and another smaller courtyard to be surrounded by outdoor family area. We would like to  encourage full use of the outdoor areas with and without shadow, as a natural extension of the indoor  facilities. In our design we would like to promote ways of social interaction by planning for integration  between spaces for education, recreation and living.

All facilities are facing the courtyard to allow trouble-free orientation for the patients and if needed to  provide easily secured environment. With the single point of entry to the clinic and clearly defined belonging  outdoor space, clinic facilities should help create strong sense of security for its users while presenting  inviting appearance to the outside world.

Entire structure and shell envelope of the phase one clinic may be packed into a single container  measuring 4mx3mx2.4m or volume of 28.8m³. Such package of corrugated steel sheets and I-beam  structure could be easily delivered by land or air to most secluded locations. From thereon construction  process will relay upon very basic skill and gradual introduction of other components such as flooring,  insulation, windows and doors, finishes, furniture, equipment…

Our response to the design brief was to come up with an efficient proposal. As in disease treatment where  success is directly dependant on the fast response, we thought of architecture which would be quick and  straightforward to build by locally available skill and easily transportable material. So we based our  proposal on the modular element, made of corrugated steel shell and I-beam structure. Its polygonal  footprint of 27m² has all of the nodes positioned on the perimeters of the two concentric circles. Set out  and construction sequence is made easy via seven steps shown on the diagrams.

Fenestration design is relative to the Sun and we plan for good air circulation to help against overheating  and best possible use of daylight. Perforated steel sheets are used to provide mobile protection from sun  for doors and window; and other particular walls which are there to define outdoor areas. Roof surface will  host photovoltaic panels to generate electricity from solar radiation.

High surface to volume ratio of our proposal is geared for better rain water harvesting. Water is collected  by entire roof surface and then channeled via gutters to storage tanks located in the courtyards.  Rainwater  collection from roofs can be calculated using the formula: 1 millimeter of rain on a 1 square meter surface  yields 1 liter of water. Therefore our proposal for phase one would generate 270 liters of water per 1  millimeter of rain. Such supplies could be used for drinking if suitably treated or domestic water, or water  for small irrigation.

Paddling Home es un 4′x’4′x 4 ‘vivienda mínima cargados de estilo de Hong Kong, detalles arquitectónicos, tales como azulejos rosa, mirador, desagües y aire acondicionado, puerta de acero inoxidable, las deidades locales (dios de la tierra), etc .

I just created this project call Paddling Home now showing at the 2009 Hong Kong Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism \ Architecture in Hong Kong that run till 2/27/10.

Paddling Home is a 4’x’4’x 4’ minimal dwelling loaded with Hong Kong style architectural details such as pink tiling, protruded bay window, exposed sewage pipes and air conditioning, stainless steel gate, local deities (earth god), etc. It is sitting on top of 4 blue barrels as floatation system often seen from local fish farms.

Last week I took the boat out and did a performance on the Victoria Harbour against the magnificent Hong Kong skyline.

The local real estate commercial often boast their property have 180 degree view of the harbour and now my property finally beats them all since my apartment have 360 degree sea view.

I was able to do some fishing and golfing on my private roof garden that day, a daring operation and very exciting indeed, enjoy.

SAMPARKOUR – Otra forma de ver São Paulo

SAMPARKOUR de Wiland Pinsdorf es un corto filmado en la ciudad de São Paulo (Brasil) que nos muestra la ciudad mediante un vertiginoso recorrido de un “atleta callejero”.

Sin duda que este tipo de miradas, nos traen nuevas formas de interpretaciones urbanas, las que nos llevan necesariamente a otro punto de vista, a pararnos junto a otros actores sociales.

En el caso particular de una metrópolis como São Paulo, todo esto toma una característica macro y de una dinámica impresionante; y creo que es por eso que me gustó tanto el video, espero que les guste,  Salú !

London-based agency Hu2 Design has created a slick set of “Sustainable Habitat Reminder” wall stickers that aim to raise energy awareness by revealing a fantastical set of inner workings behind standard plugs and switches. Russian architects Arch Group have designed a booth for taking a quick nap in busy urban environments.

Called Sleepbox, the units could be rented for between fifteen minutes and several hours.

The architects envisage them installed at train stations, airports and shopping centres.

Between users the bedding would be automatically changed, with sheets wound from one roller onto another.

In countries with warm climate SLEEPBOX can be used on the streets. Thanks to SLEEPBOX any person has an opportunity to spend the night safely and cheaply in case of emergency, or when you have to spend few hours with your baggage.

SLEEPBOX is a small mobile space (box) 2mx1.4mx2.3m (h). The main functional element in it is a bed 2×0.6 m, which is equipped with automatic system of change of bed linen. Bed is soft, flexible strip of foamed polymer with the surface of the pulp tissue. Tape is rewound from one shaft to another, changing the bed. If a client wants to sleep in maximum comfort, he can take the normal set of bed linen for an extra fee.

SLEEPBOX is equipped with a ventilation system, sound alerts, built-in LCD TV, WiFi, sockets for a laptop, charging phones. Also under the lounges is a place for luggage.

After the clients exit, automatic change of bed linen starts and quartz lamps turns on. Payment can be made on a shared terminal, which provides the client with an electronic key. It is possible to buy from 15 minutes to several hours.

SLEEPBOX is intended primarily to perform one main function – to enable a person to sleep peacefully. But it can also be equipped with various additional functions, depending on the situation. Application of the device can be very broad, not only in the form of paid public service, but also for internal purposes of organizations and companies.
